Once you get this, you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly. Then you have to send this to ten of your favourite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool~)🌈🌈
aww this is sweet <3
i like that with all i have going in my life, i still find time to dance and create that way.
i like that i have two distinct voices in my writing (academic versus fiction).
i like that i have the ability to remain hopeful.
i like my taste in music.
and tbh i like how i'm doin' as a mom. i think i'm pretty good at it.

My dad told me that he bought Tracy Chapman’s first album on tape in the 80s bc of Fast Car and I asked him how many skips it had (he always has skips) and he said none. Having listened to it now… he is right.
#might I add… still socially relevant perhaps more with every passing day#she starts with Talkin Bout A Revolution and then she SINGS#and also some fantastically soft (and gay) love songs#tracy chapman#music#anyway

what's this i've heard you landed yourself a fellow tiny hot blonde with an amazing voice? i mean personally, she's the hot one between the two of you, i'm just telling you now. but i'm happy for you, but make sure to treat that cutie good because seriously have you heard her songs, she's like taylor swift but more ruthless and as much as i would love another bop, it's suck to be at your expense. even if i want more amazing music from the brilliant mine of sabrina carpenter. @glenheat

Don't ya know? They're talking about a revolution. It sounds like a whisper. Poor people gonna rise up. And get their share. Poor people gonna rise up. And take what's theirs.

i'm impressed, the whole being able to keep that kind of semi private, quiet, whatever you want to call it. think that sounds... nice, even if it didn't work out. think that's what i would want someday, where it's more private than not, but i don't know how much that really happens. i don't know people either have a vampire vibe or a werewolf vibe and you definitely don't have the werewolf vibe. oh, i'm sorry luke, that can't be easy, but i'm sure that someday you'll get back out touring. as long as you're ready for it.
I was married for like a year and a bit. I tend to live a pretty low -laid life, generally. Only been a little more public about things with Liv because of her tour and stuff. But we're back to laying low. I don't know why everyone thinks that I'd make a good vampire. Uh - I canceled my tour so I guess you're going to have to wait for if I ever go on one again. Who knows.

So You Really Liked Fast Car
I grew up on Tracy Chapman, so it's been great to see her having a bit of a revival lately. Here are some other songs of hers to check out!
Want more...
Relationship Disasters: For My Lover, Less Than Strangers
Bone-Deep Melancholy: I Used to be a Sailor, For A Dream
Queer Undertones (imo): It's OK, In the Dark
Social Commentary (with a dose of eat the rich): Talkin' Bout a Revolution, So
Narrators Who Clearly Have a Story: Never Yours, Crossroads
No thematic link to Fast Car, I just love them: Telling Stories (the first song of hers I ever heard, which I related to a lot as a kid who ALSO loved making shit up), Hard Wired (this song came out in 2002 and hoo boy, is it prescient)
Also not linked to Fast Car, but I'd be remiss in making a Chapman post without pointing out her confrontation of racism in many of her songs: Across the Lines, America
